Two Great Events Means One Great Week in Golf!
Hi everyone,
This past week was the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational on the LPGA Tour and for the best male players in the game was The Open! Both of these events are great and so much fun to watch.
The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational is a team event where women pair up and play two rounds of best ball and two rounds of alternate shot. Watching everyone playing having so much fun with their partners was great to see! Most of the teams came up with fun team names including, Team Jelly (Nelly and Jessica Korda), Team Sisters From Another Mister (Danielle Kang and Lydia Ko), Team Soul Sisters (Amy Olson and Katherine Kirk), Team M&M (Moriya (nickname: Mo) and Ariya (nickname: May) Jutanugarn), and so many more! The Jutanugarn sister duo took home the win with an incredible 59 in the final round. Congrats to Ariya and Moriya on their phenomenal win and to all the partnerships who teed it up!
The 149th Open Championship was played at The Royal St. Georges Golf Club in England. We missed the event last year when it was cancelled due to COVID-19 and so it was great to see it back! Watching players play a par 70 course with par threes at almost 240 yards was really exciting! All four days had nice weather which I'm sure the players appreciated but as fans watching the wild conditions when its rainy and windy always makes The Open that much more fun to watch. The break on the links greens always baffles me because I am used to the greens here in New England. As per usual in major championships Louis Oosthuizen was near the top of the leaderboard all week but when it came down to the end it was Collin Morikawa that earned the world renowned title of Champion Golfer of the Year! It was Collin's Open debut and the second time he was won a major on his first try, which is super impressive! Congratulations to Collin on his victory and great playing to all the players who did so well out there!
Overall, it was a great week in golf and I can't wait for both of these events next year! Already counting down ;)
